How SNAP/EBT Works at the Market
Visit the Information Table
Head to the Market Information Table near the entrance.
Swipe Your EBT Card
Tell the attendant how much you'd like to spend. No minimum.
Receive Market Tokens
You'll receive tokens equal to your purchase amount. They work like cash.
Shop with Your Tokens
Use tokens at any vendor displaying the SNAP/EBT sign.
What You CAN Buy with SNAP
- Fresh fruits and vegetables
- Meat, poultry, and fish
- Dairy products and eggs
- Bread and baked goods
- Seeds and plants that produce food
- Honey, jams, and preserves
- Fresh herbs
NOT Eligible for SNAP
- Prepared hot foods
- Alcohol or tobacco
- Non-food items (crafts, flowers, etc.)
- Pet food
- Vitamins and supplements
Seniors Farmers' Market Program (SFMNP)
If you are 60+ and meet income requirements, you may qualify for $50 in free vouchers for fresh produce.
Vouchers valid July 1 through September 30.
WIC Farmers' Market Benefits (eFMNP)
WIC participants can use $30 in benefits for fresh NC-grown fruits and vegetables. Season: May 1 through October 30.
